Job Description:
Under the supervision of the department Chairperson and Associate Coordinator, the Secretary I position enhances the goal of student centeredness by providing aid in supporting the faculty and the students in their daily needs by following established rules, guidelines and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Provide secretarial support services for the FBM department including maintaining google calendars, acting as receptionist for the front desk, updating and maintaining confidential files, type memos and correspondence and photocopy materials as required.
- Ability to work independently and completing multiple projects on tight deadlines with minimal need for supervision.
- Assist the Assistant Coordinator and Administrative Assistant with all FBM matters including gathering and organizing information for special projects, meetings and reports.
- Handle special projects.
- Must pay attention to detail and follow through on assignments.
- Make interoffice deliveries and pick-ups as requested.
- Assist in departmental duties as required by the supervisor.
- Be a team player with faculty and staff.
- Provide coverage and support at the reception area, answer telephones and arrange faculty and student appointments using Google calendar, log deliveries at the front desk, maintain tentative teaching and office hours records.
- Monitor and post faculty cancellations.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma and 2-4 years of appropriate business experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of basic office procedures.
- Prior experience operating a personal computer and utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Ability to type 50 words per minute.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must have strong organizational skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to work with a diverse constituency.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Prior experience using Google Workspace (Google Suite), Blackboard and Banner preferred.

Additional Information:
The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement
(CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and
conditions of employment.
Starting Salary: $39,327 per year with step
increments per Salary Schedule 87, after one year of
service and annually thereafter.

Days/Hours: M-F, 9am-5pm, in person; work schedule subject to
change based on needs of the department.
