Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President Marketing Strategy ( SAVP ), the Executive Director of Marketing Strategy (ED), serves as the lead Marketing Strategist for undergraduate and post-traditional recruitment and the undergraduate student experience. Will strategize, plan and execute multi-channel marketing efforts designed to support new student recruitment goals from prospects to applications to matriculation. A strategic-thinker who translates big-picture marketing vision to implementable operational plans, a dot-connector who understands how our marketing efforts work together to build our brand and advance the University’s enrollment goals. Partners with both undergraduate and post-traditional admissions teams, and Marketing channel teams to develop and execute marketing strategies to engage prospective students using various technologies and platforms. Understands the audience goals/objective and pull together an integrated marketing team to co-create and implement enrollment marketing strategy (bridging traditional marketing tactics, digital media, etc.). Directs team as they partner with ESE and others within Marketing to bring marketing strategies from concept to completion. A problem-solver, the ED ensures dozens of projects stay on-time and on- budget. Manage relationships and mobilize resources to meet goals, while spotting and mitigating potential issues. Regularly provides excellent counsel to the SAVP / CMO .

Qualifications

A bachelors degree and a minimum of 10 years in marketing or marketing strategy development. Three or more years of higher education experience, with a focus on enrollment/recruitment marketing and communications is preferred. A minimum of five years leading large and managing diverse marketing teams. A track record of implementing major national omni-channel marketing campaigns which meet or exceeded stated measurable goals.

Excellent management and organizational skills with good attention to detail and follow up. Must also have the ability to oversee and execute multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under deadlines and constraints. Is proactive and takes initiative.

Responsibilities
  • Directs and stewards the overarching marketing priorities strategic plan supporting new student recruitment as well as partner on strategies to enhance the student experience. Works closely with business/academic unit, team and other schools/college marketing teams to ensure effective prioritization and planning annually. Makes sure resources are in place to partner with other units to build marketing plans that help them advance their strategic priorities.
  • Responsible for operations of the designated Marketing Strategy Teams. This includes ensuring team members are effectively building and implementing marketing plans. Builds infrastructure for effective and strategic marketing efforts. Works collaboratively with others to build processes for leveraging analytics and research insights to drive marketing efforts. Implements approach to after-action reviews and regular reporting on the performance of marketing plans. Builds project management tools and approaches. Oversees marketing budget for respective business/academic units.
  • Directs the development of marketing plans and related materials. Helps team members trouble-shoot challenges. Works with other leaders to ensure marketing programs roll out on time and on budget. Serves as lead marketer on special projects as needed.
  • Provides strategic counsel to Sr. Leadership, Deans, Faculty and staff related to marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Provides counsel to SAVP and collaborates on building a best-in-class marketing operation. Stays up-to-date on industry trends. Mentors team and provides University-wide education on media relations best practices.
