Job Summary:

Performs a variety of late afternoon and evening support at the Corvallis Campus including facilities, reception, event staffing, office, and general clerical support for staff, students, and the public. Provides regular on-site oversight for evening classes at the Corvallis Campus.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills: Requires basic knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and equipment. Requires skill in customer service techniques and etiquette.

Abilities: Must be able to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. Requires the ability to make independent judgments for the health and safety of people and property. Requires the ability to learn, understand and apply college rules, regulations, and policies, as well as those policies specific to the Corvallis Campus. Requires the ability to operate media equipment and computers. Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet schedules and timelines. Requires ability to communicate with college staff, students, and the public in a manner that reflects positively on the department and the college. Requires willingness to learn a variety of Corvallis Campus processes, procedures, and technology. Ability to be flexible and work in different areas to cover for staff as needed. Must have good attendance. Must keep student information confidential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer knowledge and understanding of the policies, procedures, and special terminologies of the Corvallis Campus, and the college.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Position may require periods of extended sitting, standing, or lifting of light to medium-weight materials (10 to 50 pounds). Requires the ability to operate computers and other office equipment. Requires the ability to read words and numbers and understand the spoken word with the ability to sufficiently carry on routine conversations in person or over the phone.

Work is normally performed in a building with little or no exposure to health and safety hazards. Requires some time working at a computer. Hours are 4:00 pm-9:00 pm Monday through Thursday and may require some early/late hours and some weekend days. Schedule requires evening work with some variation during term breaks and peak times. Spends much time working independently and alone in the evenings. Must have reliable transportation.

Essential Duties:

Provides clerical support to Corvallis Campus Staff. Assists Corvallis Campus Coordinator with Facilities as needed. Performs lite custodial duties as needed.
Answers phones, greets visitors, and provides information about college classes and services. Takes messages, explains policies and procedures, answers questions, and handles routine problems and complaints. Contacts students about class changes and cancellations as required. Refers significant problems to appropriate supervisors.
Provides general service and assistance to students and staff, including distributing mail, typing, proofing, copying, and filing. Provides information about classes and programs to staff, students, and the general public.

Cross-trains with other part-time positions at the Corvallis Campus including Registration and the Learning, Career & Testing Center.
Checks facilities at the end of classes to ensure they are secure and in proper order. Notifies appropriate college staff of student discipline problems and situations which may affect security, and acts in accordance with college policy to protect the health and safety of people and property. Picks up and delivers supplies and printed materials for staff and students, and posts directional and information signs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
