Description

The Clemson University Department of Physics and Astronomy, in collaboration with the Department of Bioengineering and Prisma Health, invites nominations or applications from leading scholars to become the founding holder of the Dr. Waenard L. Miller, Jr. '69 and Sheila M. Miller Endowed Chair in Medical Biophysics. Medical Biophysics is the biophysics of health and disease through the advancement of our fundamental understanding of biological systems, development of novel theories, models, concepts, techniques, or applications encompassing physics, biological sciences, chemistry, genetics, biochemistry, mathematical and statistical sciences, engineering, and materials sciences.

The inaugural holder of the Dr. Waenard L. Miller, Jr. '69 and Sheila M. Miller Endowed Chair in Medical Biophysics will receive a salary commensurate with experience, comprehensive resources and benefits, and faculty appointments to build exciting and innovative research and educational programs to elevating Clemson University's national and international prominence in Medical Biophysics. Candidates with a vision to tackle major challenges in Medical Biophysics, including but not limited to molecular and cellular optical imaging and spectroscopy, sensing devices, radiation, or computational approaches that will impact our fundamental knowledge of human health, are invited to apply.
