Job Summary

Lasell University invites applications for the part-time position of a Sprints Coach. Lasell University is a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the NCAA Division III offering 17 varsity sports (8 for men and 9 for women). Lasell University's 50-acre campus is located in Newton, MA, a community located ten miles west of Boston. The co-educational institution, offering professionally oriented baccalaureate and master's degree programs, has an enrollment of 1600 full-time undergraduate students.

The Assistant Coach will join the Head Coach in the Department of Athletics. The Athletic Department is housed in the Division of Enrollment Management.

Qualifications:

• Experience coaching and/or running sprints
• At least 1 year experience coaching at the high school or collegiate level OR 4 years' experience running at the collegiate level
• Coaching certifications are a plus
• Hurdles and/or Jumps experience is a plus, but not required

Athletic Department Expectations:

Administration:

• Assist head coach in all regularly scheduled practices.
• Assist head coach in supervising team at all contests.
• Defer to head coach in all cases of discipline or authority.

NCAA Rules and Regulations:

• Know and adhere to NCAA rules regarding eligibility and recruiting.
• Report to the Director of Athletics any NCAA violations.
• Adhere to the Division III philosophy in all aspects of coaching and recruiting.

Recruiting:

• Adhere to all NCAA Division III recruiting rules.
• Assist head coach in actively recruiting academically talented student-athletes.

Team Travel:

• Assist in coordinating travel plans, i.e. meals, lodging, departure times.

Specific Duties:

• Coach the sprints group, starting in the 2023-2024 season
• Attend 3 practices/week and all meets
• Indoor season (late Oct - early March) track workouts are held 7-9am, M/Tu/F
• Outdoor season (mid-March - early May) track workouts are held 5-7pm, M/Tu/F
• Most meets fall on a Saturday, with a few on a Sunday
• Plan, program and lead the workouts
• Along with Head Coach, create a periodization plan for the group
• Assist Head Coach in any other needed coaching duties

Salary:

• Stipend pay, disbursed in increments throughout semester
• Stipend to be negotiated based on experience
