Salary & Benefits:    Full-Time salary is $47,500 as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.
                                 Part-Time salary is $3,958 per class per term.
Classification:        Full-time or Part-Time Teacher, Exempt, Academy of Science and Technology, Annual Contract.
Location:     Northwest Campus, 3000 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville, Florida 32606.

This position has the ability to be filled as a Part-time or Full-time teacher position and will run from August to June based on a set number of days: 196 for 2023-2024. Teaching assignments will include high school World History. These courses are taught within the Academy of Science and Technology.

Full-time faculty have an August-June contract based on teaching five (5) classes with one (1) planning period in the Fall and Spring; teaching opportunities beyond contractual obligations, including during the summer may be available for additional compensation based upon academy need.

Part-time faculty are assigned three (3) consecutive periods of instruction in a six (6) period day. 


Responsibilities and duties include:
•    Plan, prepare, and conduct a variety of learning activities considering students’ learning styles and special needs in order to enhance the application of critical, creative and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.
•    Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials, technology, and resources to support learning objectives and address students’ learning styles and special needs.
•    Create or select goals and objectives for unit and daily plans based on a review of district and state curriculum priorities, student profiles and instructional priorities.
•    Identify specific intended learning outcomes which are challenging, meaningful and measurable.
•    Apply principles of learning and effective teaching in instructional delivery.
•    Maintain academic focus by using a variety of motivational techniques.
•    Provide quality work for students which is focused on meaningful, relevant, and engaging learning experiences.
•    Sequence content and activities appropriately.
•    Maintain instructional momentum with smooth and efficient transitions from one activity to another.
•    Provide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment.
•    Assist students in assessing, interpreting, and evaluating information from multiple sources.
•    Encourage self-assessment by students and assist them in developing plans for improving their performance, as appropriate.
•    Monitor learning activities and provide feedback to students about the appropriateness of responses and quality of work with a focus on improving student performance.
•    Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional units and teaching strategies.
•    Interpret and use data (including but not limited to standardized and other test results) for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation.
•    Develop and use ongoing assessments to monitor student progress to verify that learning is occurring to adjust curriculum and instruction.
•    Administer tests, including standardized tests, in accordance with directions provided, including proctoring and secure handling of materials.
•    Communicate high learning expectations for all students.
•    Foster student responsibility, appropriate social behavior, integrity, valuing of cultural diversity, and respect for self and others by role modeling and learning activities.
•    Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents and community.
•    Provide accurate and timely information to parents and students about academic and behavioral performance of students.
•    Write or participate in the formation of student IEP or 504 Plans or any other learning plans based on individual student needs.
•    Establish routines and procedures and encourage students to follow them consistently.
•    Establish and maintain appropriate discipline in the educational setting and effective behavior management techniques.
•    Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and school/community.
•    Collaborate with students, parents, school staff and other appropriate persons to assist in meeting student needs.
•    Work with other teachers in curriculum development, special activities and sharing ideas and resources.
•    Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum content.
•    Engage in continuing improvement of professional knowledge and skills including instructional methodology, learning theory, curriculum trends and content.
•    Develop and implement a Professional Development Plan annually in accordance with state and district requirements.
•    Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
•    Assist in enforcement of school rules, and administrative regulations.
•    Comply with policies, procedures, and programs.
•    Act in a professional and ethical manner.
•    Establish and maintain a positive, safe and non-threatening learning environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
•    Support school improvement initiatives by active participation in school activities, services, and programs.
•    Manage materials and equipment effectively.
•    Instruct and supervise the work of volunteers and aides when assigned.
•    Supervise students at all times to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
•    Maintain a clean, attractive, and organized learning environment.
•    Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with academy procedures.
•    Maintain student grade, attendance, and conduct records in accordance with established procedures.
•    Recognize overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate intervention, referral, or reporting actions.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.
•    Attend Parent Night and/or College Night.
•    Collaborate with the Director of the department, department faculty and staff, as well as other college officials to assist with implementing college policies, objectives and functions in accordance with the SF mission, vision, goals, and strategic initiatives.
•    Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, committee work, as well as service to the academy as requested.
•    Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
•    Understand and appreciate high school students.
•    Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

Qualifications 
Required: A Florida teaching certificate in History (6-12), Social Science (5-9), or Social Science (6-12). 
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: ESE Certification Preferred. Teaching certifications in additional core subject areas may present the opportunity for a full-time teaching position. Three (3) or more years of high school teaching (within the last 10 years) is preferred.
