Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Project Management manages enterprise-wide projects within Information Technology Services. As Technical Project Manager, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, working with technical leads and campus peers to design project plans that support success and maximize customer satisfaction. Working closely with project leadership, you’ll prepare dashboards and reports outlining project status, regularly delivering presentations to technical and non-technical campus audiences.

Duties/Responsibilities

60% Project Leadership

You will lead a range of strategic and operational projects, ranging in scope from software implementations (i.e. cloud-based and SaaS) and application development projects to infrastructure and audiovisual system deployments. You’ll tailor your project management approach to match individual project goals and develop realistic project plans for the team to work against.

You’ll embrace a strong service and leadership ethic in your work, supporting your peers, managing customer expectations, and jumping in to solve a sticky challenge to keep the effort on track. Department leaders will look to you for budget projections, up to date timelines, and will trust you to flag risks early and often.

20% Process Design

You’ll collaborate with your manager and the team to continually improve project management processes, ensuring a consistent PM approach across our technical teams. The team will collaborate with other departments to ensure that our approach aligns with their needs and expectations.

15% Communications

You will share your work with customers and leadership, occasionally preparing presentations for internal and external groups. You’ll help design communications plans for your projects, working with other team members to ensure the word gets out about the fantastic work our project teams are doing.

5% Other tasks as assigned

Occasional off-hours, on-call, or weekend work may be required. Infrequent domestic business travel may be required.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university
  • Previous project management training in waterfall or agile methodologies.
  • 3+ years direct project management experience in an information technology environment.
  • Experience managing multiple parallel small or medium-sized projects to completion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university in Project Management, Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience applying different project management methodologies and best practices based on project need.
  • Experience collaboratively developing and validating project requirements.
  • Experience independently leading medium and large projects through the full project management life cycle.
  • Recognized industry certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Certified Practitioner or Certified Scrum Master.
  • 5+ years technical project management experience
Salary for Announcement:

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $64,500 - $86,100. The full salary range is $64,500 - $107,600.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Work Hours:

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, Hybrid schedule available, some on campus work will be required.
