Writing Center Lead Consultant, Part-time

Job Duties:
This is a part-time, 20 hours per week position. The Lead Consultant assists students with writing and communication projects and reports to the Director of the Writing Center. The Lead Consultant helps with implementation of a strategic vision with with the specific goal of assisting Athens State University students in strengthening their writing skills. The Lead Consultant will provide excellent academic support to students at any stage in their writing process, offering feedback and suggestions for all writing tasks. The lead consultant may also supervise student tutors, manage scheduling software and present writing workshops for faculty, staff and students. In addition, the Lead Consultant will create and curate writing resources and engage students online, in-person and through social media platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist students with writing assignments and writing components of other assignments in all disciplines
- Assist students with correct use of MLA, APA, and Chicago/Turabian formatting and other citation styles
- Provide on-on-one and group tutoring to students in-person and online using learning management software, and via email
- Assist the Director in keeping Writing Center materials updated and available in print and online formats
- Assist other tutors or work-study students as needed
- Submit reports and data on Writing Center usage to the Director
- Work well with people (free of bias, malice, or contempt for a diverse population)
Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited institution, preferable in English, English Education, Communications or a field strongly related to writing
- Previous Writing Center or other tutoring experience preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
- Flexible hours and availability including evenings and weekends
Salary Schedule:
Salary Band: N85 - $12.85 - $16.06 per hour, 20 hours per week
