The Assistant Director of Accreditation and Assessment coordinates all aspects of the accreditation and program approval processes for the undergraduate and graduate programs in the May School of Arts & Sciences, including but not limited to scheduling visits, developing teams, preparing materials, providing administrative support for visit meetings, editing reports, maintaining records, and responding to inquiries.  The AD also serves as the primary link between the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Department of Education Studies at Stonehill College. Knowledgeable on state regulations and advisories relating to accreditation and educator licensure programs, the AD works with College and Program stakeholders to ensure all programs are in compliance with regulatory standards. The AD manages the licensure of undergraduate and graduate teacher candidates and communicates changes to state program requirements and assessments associated with those changes to all stakeholders. The AD consults with academic leadership, faculty, departments, units, and committees regarding matters and assessments pertaining to teacher licensure and accreditation. The successful candidate will interact with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports all aspects of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure program approval, including data collection, management, reporting, and support for education licensure program-related data.
  • Maintains all data required by DESE to endorse the licensure of teacher candidates and for accreditation of the program.
  • Ensures that the College remains in compliance with all teacher accreditation standards.
  • Completes the State Annual and Title II Report.
  • Coordinates Massachusetts Education Personnel ID (MEPID) notification/collection.
  • Receives and reviews Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) scores.
  • Provides feedback from the Department to DESE about teacher preparation program perspectives on current state regulations and emerging state initiatives.
  • Coordinates the preparation/distribution of Professional Development Points (PDP) certificates and maintains a PDP provider database.
  • Tracks program completers’ employment, retention in the field, and educator evaluation ranking through the use of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education institutional profiles and Edwin Analytics.
  • Coordinates program approval and accreditation visits and external reviews.
  • Disseminates all licensure and accreditation-related information from DESE and NECHE to the Dean, Associate Provost for Academic Planning and Assessment, and other College stakeholders, including students as appropriate.
  • Assists with NECHE, assessment, and leads State/Federal reports.
  • Oversees departmental databases related to assessment, accreditation, licensure, self-study, and program approval.
  • Monitors publicly available data on DESE and NECHE websites.
  • Provides data support to departments and the Dean and the Associate Provost for Academic Planning and Assessment.
  • Actively fosters and maintains an inclusive workplace climate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

A Master’s degree is preferred. Experience in education, accreditation, or regulatory affairs preferred. Preference for candidates with knowledge of NECHE and DESE regulations and advisories; strong communication, organization, and data management skills, including Excel and Qualtrics.
