Position Purpose

The project coordinator will assist in the coordination and implementation of an fMRI research project that will build a normative dataset and software tools for building a standard template of brain functional architecture.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent.
  • Must complete educational requirements for Dartmouth Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects ( CPHS ), upon hire and appropriate laboratory and safety training.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills permitting effective recruitment and interaction with young adult research participants, research and administrative staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and take initiative, balance competing demands, schedule and plan efficiently and effectively to coordinate with participating research staff, meet participant recruitment goals and coordinate with other study personnel.
  • Ability to work well as a team member and to exercise discretion, judgment, tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to implement research and data collection protocols.
  • Ability to adjust to changing plans, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Proficiency and skill with computer databases and software packages such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to accurately summarize and communicate information.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background with functional brain imaging, through coursework or experience working in a laboratory.
  • Some knowledge of statistics, linear algebra, and computer coding (preferably Python) is preferred. More importantly, the successful candidate should show eagerness to learn new analytical skills and knowledge.

Description

Project Coordination
  • Coordinates a project collecting fMRI data during naturalistic stimuli and functional localizers for building a normative dataset and standard model template for hyperalignment.
  • Recruits young adult healthy volunteer participants for fMRI scanning.
  • Coordinates scheduling of research participants and assists with fMRI data collection.
  • Maintains close communication with the Principal Investigators and other study staff regarding recruitment, study progress, and data management.

Research Support/ Data Management
  • Assists in the recruitment of research participants for fMRI studies using good communication skills both in person, via email, and via advertising in the local community.
  • Assists with fMRI data collection.
  • Monitors the system for stimulus presentation during fMRI scanning.
  • Assists with storing and preprocessing of fMRI data.
  • Administers questionnaires and cognitive tests to research participants.
  • Accurately enters data into databases, participates in quality assurance procedures, and maintains quality assurance standards.
  • Works closely with the Principal Investigator and other research staff to maintain efficient tracking systems and data management instruments.
  • Maintains subject and data confidentiality.
  • Generate regular progress reports.
  • Perform analyses and prepare figures and reports as needed.

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet participant and study needs including evenings, weekends, holiday, and hours other than 9am-5pm.
  • Must be able to work as a team member to coordinate and ensure necessary coverage.
