Position Purpose

The Post-Doctoral Fellowship is designed to enhance the clinical skills and facilitate the professional identity development of the fellow within a college mental health center. The postdoctoral experience requires participants to engage in the full range of psychological activities that professional staff members engage in and it also allows for the development of specialized skills in one of the following areas:
Eating Concerns Specialization provides postdoctoral fellow an opportunity to gain experience providing clinical services to students presenting with eating concerns (e.g., restriction, bingeing, purging, body preoccupation/shame/dissatisfaction), as well as collaborate with treatment team members on outreach efforts.
Student-Athletes Specialization provides postdoctoral fellow an opportunity to gain experience providing clinical and sport psychology services to student-athletes that foster mental health and well-being, promote excellence in educational and athletic goals, provide team-centered educational workshops, and consultation with athletic department and health service staff.
Gender-Based Violence Specialization provides postdoctoral fellow an opportunity to gain experience providing clinical services to students affected by sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and harassment, as well as collaborate with senior staff on outreach efforts.
The fellowship is intended to provide the experience required for licensure in most states (2000 hours).

PhD plus 1-2 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Applicants must have completed an APA -accredited counseling or clinical psychology doctoral program, including an
APA -accredited pre-doctoral internship and completed dissertation prior to beginning the Fellowship.
Applicants must provide documented verification of completion of all doctoral program requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with college-aged population, including clinical experience and knowledge of working with survivors of trauma or clients with eating disorders.
Demonstrate experience in college mental health, as reflected by at least two supervised practicum, internship, or other work experience in a college student mental health setting.
Demonstrated competency, experience, and commitment to issues of diversity in the delivery of clinical services and in outreach/programming.

Additional Instructions

Salary and Benefits:
This 12 month, full-time position will begin September 1, 2023 run through August 31, 2024, with a stipend of $53,000. Start date is slightly flexible. Fellows receive professional liability and health insurance. Vacation, sick, and ample professional development time is provided.

Key Accountabilities

Description

Provide individual/ group counseling, triage and initial assessments, crisis intervention and participates in the emergency coverage 24-hour rotation system. Clinical emphasis on counseling survivors of gender-based violence or students with eating concerns or student-athletes.
