Purpose of Position
The Title IX Investigator, under the direction of the Title IX Coordinator, will be responsible for implementing prompt, effective and appropriate responses to reports of sexual harassment by both students and employees. The Title IX Investigator’s duty will be to conduct Title IX/sexual harassment investigations involving students and employees; The incumbent will assist in evaluating reports and complaints and provide technical assistance to campus partners on how to handle situations in a compliant manner.
Primary Responsibilities
Performing sexual harassment investigation duties, in consultation with the Title IX Coordinator where necessary, including: identifying and gathering evidence, conducting interviews of parties and witnesses, analyzing evidence, drafting and issuing written investigation reports, maintaining a compliant caseload, processing administrative closures as determined by the Title IX Coordinator, coordinating with college/unit designees, and timely communication with parties.
Developing and conducting training for the University community on Title IX-related matters, including all Orientation sessions, regular training for Intercollegiate Athletics and Fraternity and Sorority Life, and coordinating the annual launch of online training for all incoming students and partnering with training vendors.
Assisting with the facilitation of sexual harassment hearings by coordinating the use of University-provided Advisors and trained decision-makers
Assisting the Title IX Coordinator in carrying out other Title IX/ VAWA response and prevention responsibilities for the University. These may include, but are not limited to data collection, trend analysis, and community outreach.
Coordinating Title IX supportive measures for students and employees and all pregnancy-related accommodations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required; JD preferred and a minimum of three years related experience.
Demonstrated ability to compile factual information (upload 1 writing sample).
Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including Title IX, due process protections as conduct proceedings, the Clery Act, FERPA, etc.
Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information. Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem-solving techniques, interviewing, and investigation.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations.
Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to handle issues of complex and extreme sensitivity.
Skill in writing concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues.
