Purpose of Position

This 40-hour-per-week position provides customer service in the form of maintaining, servicing and repairing all Residential Village buildings and equipment including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance repairs which include patching, painting, and light carpentry work.

Primary Responsibilities

Maintain all HVAC equipment by service, repairs, and/or replacements; Maintain all plumbing systems by repairing or replacing all types of plumbing fixtures such as commodes, faucets, showers, drains, and piping;

Maintain all electrical systems by repairing or replacing electrical fixtures and appliances such as lighting, safety devices, panels, switches, and outlets;

Basic carpentry to include patching, painting, caulking, ceramic tile repairs and replacements, ceilings, floor covering repairs and/or replacements, window and door repairs and/or replacements, and furniture repairs.

Performs routine preventative maintenance work on assigned equipment.

Qualifications

Requires high school graduation/ GED with five (3) years of full-time related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience such as an associate’s degree and one (1) year of related experience.

Strongly prefer vocational or technical education in related fields. Requires a valid driver’s license. Requires EPA Universal Refrigeration License (or must obtain within six (6) months of employment). Must be able to work the specified schedule.

Requires the ability to perform duties with medium to heavy exertion; works in cramped spaces, overhead spaces, etc. Must be flexible enough to work any and all hours outside of normal working hours to accommodate the needs/demands of the Residential Village occupants and the university.
