Job Summary:

The Coordinator of Career Services provides career development, job readiness skills building, and pre-employment services to current and prospective students at Volunteer State Community College (VSCC). This position primarily focuses on facilitating student success by assisting students with career exploration, job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and networking. The coordinator will develop and implement career-related programming, initiatives, and activities supporting students' career development. The coordinator will also work closely with multiple college departments, faculty, staff, community partners and local education agencies and employers to develop relationships, and to provide information for job opportunities to students and graduates.

Job Duties:

Develop and implement career-related programming, events, and resources to assist students with building their skills in career exploration, job search strategies, cover letter and resume development, interview preparation, and networking. Work with current and prospective Vol State students and middle and high school students to help develop the capacity for career self-evaluation, including researching and administering various tools for assessment of interests, values, aptitudes, and skills. Assist current and prospective students with developing career plans, including exploring career options, identifying career goals, and creating job search strategies. Supports Workforce Development through assisting with individual and collective marketing and dissemination of information related to work-based learning opportunities. Provide individual/group career coaching to students, including career assessments, career guidance, and workshops. Develop and maintain relationships with employers, Workforce Development, and community partners to create job placements for current students. Facilitate thematic or general job fairs and other career-related events to provide avenues for career development, opportunities to learn about work-based learning and connect students with potential employers. Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate career-related learning outcomes into other high-impact practices, curricula, and work study programming and opportunities. Develop and maintain accurate student career development records, including employment outcomes through administering the Graduates' Survey. Collect and analyze career-related data to measure the effectiveness of career services and make recommendations for improvement. Develop and deliver career-related presentations to classes and student organizations. Collaborate with the Office of Dual Enrollment and Off-Campus Sites to build and maintain relationships, with K-12 partners to promote career development and guidance to service region middle and high school students. Participate in professional development activities to stay current on trends and best practices in career services. Maintain and update a job board and online career resources for students and graduates. Assist with marketing and communication efforts related to career services. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.
Three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, staff, faculty, service area school systems, employers, and community partners.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills, and detail oriented.
Demonstrated effective writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Travel within the VSCC service area is required.
Ability to plan and execute projects on a large scale.
Strong computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office products and other related software.

Pay Rate: $40,200 - $50,250 annual salary depending on experience
