Job Summary

This position will serve to support and enhance the research operations of the Vision, Autonomy, and Decision Research Lab (VADeR) led by Prof. Marcus Holzinger. Duties will focus on coordinating, helping to implement, and ensuring efficient and effective research operations within the Lab and among its many stakeholders. Position will design and implement multi-party international negotiation simulations, have experience with managing, editing and co-writing multi-institutional studies and publications. Must have facilitation experience, including problem design and solution strategies.

Who We Are

The Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research (CCAR) is dedicated to the study of astrodynamics and the application of satellites to science, navigation, and remote sensing of the Earth and planets.

Hosted by the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, CCAR was established in 1985 as a key component of the University of Colorado at Boulder’s emphasis on space science. CCAR brings together a multidisciplinary group of faculty, staff, and students to enhance our understanding of the Earth and the solar system through satellite missions and observations.

Research emphasis areas include astrodynamics, which involves orbital and attitude motion of Earth satellites, interplanetary spacecraft, and planetary bodies; global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) used for orbit determination, remote sensing, and vehicle navigation, and remote sensing of the Earth’s surface, gravity field, oceans, atmosphere and space.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Perform skilled support in research. Help to plan and direct identified phases in a research project, including design of research spaces and operation centers, and aiding with hardware inventory and maintenance, as well as with observatory equipment and protocols. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in the design, planning, and coordinating of experiments in support of various research projects.
  • Assisting in preparing and writing proposals to funding agencies.
  • Assisting graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.
  • Tracking and assisting in the maintenance of research equipment.
  • Assisting with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
What We Can Offer

Compensation for this 50% appointment will be between $50,000 and $60,000.

What We Require
  • PhD.
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience working in an Astrodynamics Lab.
  • Completion of studies, research and field work in natural resource and human management and policy.
What You Will Need
  • The ability to communicate effectively at and among all levels, on a variety of platforms and in person.
  • The capacity to work as a member of research teams within a collaborative work environment, as well as independently.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and cloud-based service.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Experience in design and implementation of multi-party international negotiation simulations.
  • Experience with managing, editing and co-writing multi-institutional studies and publications.
  • Facilitation experience, including problem design and solution strategies.
  • An interest in policy development in relation to space and other limited resources.
