Dean, College of Nursing
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks an innovative, experienced, and entrepreneurial leader for the position of Dean of the College of Nursing (CON).

The CON boasts a 140-year history of preparing the most exceptional professional nurses who care, cure, and create new knowledge in improving the health of individuals, families, and communities. The CON educates over 600 students annually across two undergraduate (accelerated BSN, RN to BSN) and two graduate programs (Ph.D., DNP), including a unique post-masters to DNP in Lifespan Palliative Care. The CON has 51 full-time faculty and around 48 staff.

Reporting to the Provost, the new Dean will build upon the current success of the CON and its faculty and take it to the next level of its development as a national leader in teaching, practice, research, and service. The Dean will serve as a member of a strategic decision-making body for the university as a member of the Provost's Council.

As South Carolina's only integrated, academic health sciences center, MUSC educates and trains over 3,000 students and more than 850 residents across six colleges annually. As the clinical health system of MUSC, MUSC Health includes 14 hospitals with approximately 2,500 beds, over 300 telehealth sites, and nearly 750 care locations across the state of South Carolina.

Qualifications include an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or DNP) from an accredited institution, a master's degree in nursing if the doctorate is not in nursing, eligibility for South Carolina nursing licensure, a distinguished record of professional, community, and university service, and at least five years of experience in leadership roles. Experience in an academic health science center environment is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and organizational abilities, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and possess effective interpersonal skills.

Inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited. Applications should include a curriculum vitae and a letter of application that addresses the responsibilities and requirements. These documents should be sent electronically via e-mail to the MUSC's consultants, Claudia Teschky, Joyce De Leo, and Diane Smith, at MUSCDeanNursing@wittkieffer.com.

Confidential inquiries and questions concerning this search may be directed to Claudia Teschky at 630-575-6172 or Diane Smith at 267-766-0410.

The Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity for all persons regardless of age, color, disability, ethnicity, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other status protected by law.
