Job Description
The Learning and Teaching Hub in the Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) at ASU is currently seeking a motivated and reliable Learning Experience Design Associate with a growth mindset to join our high-performing team of Learning Experience Designers, Instructional Coaches, Learning Technologists, and Media Developers. Under general direction and in collaboration with team members, the candidate supports FSE faculty in the design and development of digital learning experiences across ASU's modalities (e.g., on-ground, hybrid, online), such as the creation of courses and other instructional materials using multiple Learning Management Systems and other educational technologies.

The Learning and Teaching Hub directly supports ASU's charter of access, inclusion and academic success by facilitating a culture of teaching and learning within the Fulton Schools of Engineering. We partner with FSE faculty on ongoing professional development and communities of practice, instructional consultation and coaching, collaborative learning development, and effective use of learning technology and analytics.

The Learning Experience Design Associate is the entry-level position and introduction to ASU's expansive career opportunities and growth in the field of instructional design and educational technology. Essential Duties

  • Assists team members and faculty in the design and development of engaging, interactive and effective digital learning experiences across ASU's modalities (e.g., on-ground, hybrid, online).
  • Recommends effective and creative uses of technologies to enhance instruction.
  • Assists with delivering training of recommended practices in teaching and learning.
  • Evaluates course design and outcomes using available data and procedures to articulate recommendations for revisions.
  • Supports setup and launch tasks in multiple Learning Management Systems, such as course copy, remote proctoring, etc.
  • Authors engaging micro-learning experiences and other instructional materials, such as interactives, tutorials, documentation, screencasts, etc.
  • Assists with pre/post semester requests, such as course review, UX experience.
  • Supports proactive Quality Checks to ensure successful implementation, (e.g., proctoring, accessibility, copyright, media, assessment).
  • Provides troubleshooting and other technology support for digital teaching and learning products used by faculty, students, and staff.
  • Builds familiarity with, and remains current on best practices, learning theories, instructional technologies and incorporates these into content standards and learning objectives.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. One (1) year of experience providing educational technology development services, or formal or informal education. Or, any equivalent combination of experience or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and pedagogy applicable in on-ground, hybrid, and online settings.
  • Experience in using a variety of industry-leading products (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate Storyline, H5P) for authoring of instructional materials, interactives, presentations, web pages, web applications, and tutorials.
  • Fundamental knowledge of coding/programing languages (e.g., HTML 5, Java)
  • Experience in using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Coursera)
  • Experience in troubleshooting computer and educational technology issues.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Evidence of a Master's degree in a related field or 3+ years experience working in instructional design or educational technology
  • Experience working with faculty in higher education.
  • Experience teaching in-person and/or online.

Working Environment

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
  • Regular review of completed tasks.
