Job Description:

APPOINTMENT: July 17, 2023

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching General Chemistry I & II and lab on the Quad Cities campus plus an online course in Chemistry as appropriate. Also the incumbent will serve as Chemistry lab manager, ordering chemicals and supplies, safe storage of chemicals, and waste management.

The successful candidate must have a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Teaching responsibilities will be exclusive to the Quad Cities Campus, and will include general chemistry I & II with labs, and lower division non-majors chemistry courses, as appropriate to the incumbent's area of specialization. Laboratory management for the general chemistry program on the Quad Cities campus will also be the responsibility of the successful candidate. Lab management includes purchasing consumable supplies, safe storage of chemicals, and waste management.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Applicants should have a M.S. in Chemistry with a teaching background in general chemistry.
  • Applicants must also have excellent written and oral communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Ph.D. in Chemistry with teaching experience in general chemistry preferred.
  • Applicants with experience chemical lab management are preferred.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be "in hand" at the time of appointment.
