Dean of the College of Graduate Studies

Tarleton State University invites applications, nominations, and expressions of interest for the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. Tarleton State University, located in Stephenville, Texas, is an energetic, comprehensive Carnegie R2 Doctoral University: High Research Activity, with the elective Community Engagement classification, and a new member of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.

Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean oversees enrollment management for the institution's graduate programs as well as the infrastructure underlying the expansion of graduate offerings. The Dean will develop and implement a vision for graduate education that addresses the goals of the institutional strategic plan Tarleton Forward 2030. The ideal candidate will be a person who thinks creatively and energetically about the challenges of the changing demographics in higher education, developing and implementing ambitious short- and long-term plans to increase the marketing, recruitment, and retention of graduate student enrollment in all programs.

The university was founded in 1899 by John Tarleton, a rancher and entrepreneur, who bequeathed his life savings to create an institution of higher education for students of modest means. His commitment to affordability and student success commands everything Tarleton State does.

In 1917 Tarleton State became a founding member of The Texas A&M University System, one of the largest systems of higher education in the United States. Through a statewide network of 11 universities, a comprehensive Health Science Center, eight state agencies and its RELLIS campus, the Texas A&M System educates more than 152,000 students annually and makes more than 22 million additional educational contacts through service and outreach programs. System-wide research and development expenditures exceed $1 billion a year and are a driving force in the state's economy.
