Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meet regularly with students, face to face and virtually, in order to provide academic advising, counseling and to discuss their academic progress.
  • Interview students and determine need for instructional support services; research as necessary.
  • Monitor student’s progress and GPA .
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students each semester to provide guidance in course selection, address questions and offer information as necessary including the Webster registration process.
  • Develop and continually update advising materials to facilitate the orientation, advising, and registration process for new and continuing graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Ensure that students are meeting prerequisites.
  • Maintain all program documents in designated physical and electronic files.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of every student interaction including in-person visits, phone consultations, internet correspondences and any other communications.
  • Stay abreast of current issues and trends among identified student population related to college student’s academic success and retention through active professional development.
  • Assist with university and College of Business orientation and recruiting events as needed.
  • Develop positive working relationships with AUM faculty and staff in order to serve as an advocate for our students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of assigned program or function.
  • Knowledge of functions, operations, and/or maintenance of equipment being used
  • Knowledge of acceptable advising and/or recruiting techniques and practices
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Skill in making written and oral presentations; interpersonal skills
  • Ability to advise students
  • Ability to evaluate student performance and measure progress
  • Ability to advise and relate to a varied international student population.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with all student interactions and records.
  • Skilled in using BANNER, Argos, AdvisorTrac, Xtender, Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher, Adobe, PDF, and OneNote.
Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related discipline, Education, Counseling, Psychology or related field. Masters degree preferred.
