Job Description

The Instructional Designer III is an essential role to ensure quality course design, faculty professional development, development of new online programs and continuous improvement of existing online programs, and opportunities related to online and blended learning. Provides pedagogical and curricular consultation and design following accepted online design standards. Collaborates with university stakeholders including but not limited to faculty, program coordinators, academic technology specialists, subject matter experts, and other colleagues to design training programs for professionals, engaging learning experiences for online and in-person programs according to best practices in the field.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and instructors to design and develop faculty/staff-centered learning experiences
  • Bring opportunities for refinement and enhancement of departmental services and internal processes to the attention of direct supervisor(s)
  • Provide impactful updates to content slides in PowerPoint to promote an effective learning experience and improved graphic design
  • Provide professional and timely support in the areas of pedagogy, online course development, design, and implementation of appropriate educational technologies
  • Seek opportunities for personal professional development to improve instructional design knowledge and skills and stay abreast of industry trends and standards; share that knowledge internally to continually grow the knowledge base
  • Complete course quality reviews and support quality improvements to courses as a result of review feedback
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
The Instructional Design III will preferably possess a combination of the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint design and graphic design for templates
  • Strong knowledge of various learning theories, instructional design models, and learning experience design frameworks
  • Knowledge of current accessibility standards and best practices
  • Project management and organization skills
  • The ability to proactively listen in order to identify underlying needs and problems
  • High written and verbal communication skills, especially in regards to coaching faculty and colleagues toward appropriate outcomes
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to running and participating in projects
  • Comfort in speaking with campus and academic unit leaders across universities
Salary

Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000 annually

Grade: GGS - 010

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in related/relevant area, and 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired. Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures within the Instructional Design function. Applies general knowledge of instructional design techniques developed through education and experiences.
