Job Description

The Hope College Department of World Languages & Cultures invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish position for the 2023-24 academic year. This is a non-tenure track, full-time, one-year appointment (with the possibility for renewal), to begin August 2023. Responsibilities include teaching elementary and intermediate Spanish courses, as well as one advanced topical course of the candidate’s choosing per semester. Standard teaching load is four three-credit courses per semester. Areas of need in the DWLC include: Contemporary Spain, Cultural Studies, Latinx Studies, Applied Linguistics, and Spanish for the Professions. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is expected. Strong candidates will demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching and to the liberal arts in the context of the historic Christian faith. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Ph.D. preferred but candidates with a Master’s degree will also be considered.
