Position Summary

The Interviewer/Outcome Assessor is a grant-supported position with anticipated funding through 2024. The individual will be assigned to ’Strong Foundations: Intervening to Promote Co-Parenting and Reduce Father Hazardous Drinking in Expectant Parents” under the supervision of Craig Colder, PhD., Rina Eiden, PhD., Stephanie Godleski, PhD., and Meghan Leising, EdM. and will be an employee of The Research Foundation for SUNY .

This is a multi-method, randomized efficacy trial to promote adjustment, co-parenting, and dyadic functioning among expecting couples with heavy drinking fathers and mothers who are light drinking/abstaining during pregnancy.

Incumbent receives general direction for most activities. Incumbent receives more direct supervision when experimental or unusual processes are involved, and is expected to consult with their supervisor or Project Director as needed.

Incumbent will be responsible for:
  • Recruitment: it involves preparing mailings, hanging flyers, making phone calls and emailing potential participants, OB/ GYN clinic recruitment, and assisting with social media and other recruitment methods
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Data Collection: it involves conducting baseline and follow-up assessments with participating families.
  • Assessments: it involves interviewing couples on sensitive topics, including substance use, as well as video-taping couple and family interactions. These assessments may be done online via Zoom.
  • Other administrative tasks including checking data and assisting with administrative tasks such as project mailings, photocopying, scheduling and tracking participants, and coding observational assessments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or two years formal training in Psychology or related field and minimum of six months experience conducting research in social sciences required.
  • Experience working with families is also required.
  • Reliable transportation – A valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle is required or the candidate must otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation requirements of the position.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field.
  • Previous experience following research protocols and conducting home visits is preferred.
  • Substantive interest in child development and family health is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Lotus Notes databases, Microsoft Word, and EndNote.
Physical Demands

Salary Range
$13,845 - $14,500
