Institute for the Environment & Sustainability: Assistant Director to help the Director run all aspects of the Institute for the Environment & Sustainability (IES) (academic, administrative and outreach) with special emphasis on the Master of Environmental Science program including promotion, recruitment, advising, supervising professional service projects and professional development.

The Assistant Director plans and manages graduate student professional service projects for external and internal clients which includes supervising graduate student work, verifying output, recommending alternatives, helping to prepare final reports for clients and ensuring the quality of the work for the clients; advises graduate and undergraduate students on academic planning, career advising and job and internship placement; serves as a reader or advisor on the internship, practicum or thesis committees for some of the master's students when appropriate. Helps all graduate students with finding internships or practicum or thesis projects; assists Director in recruitment and events for M.En. program and undergraduate co-majors; assists Director in evaluation and creation of policy, governance, curriculum and operating procedures; fosters partnerships with alumni, external agencies, businesses and nonprofit organizations to enhance engagement with research, speaking events, career advising, and job placement; develops partnerships and programs with internal departments such as Center for Career Exploration and Howe Writing Center, to provide students with necessary support for degree and career success; represents IES at administrative meetings recruitment events, alumni events, and professional meetings as necessary.

Required: Master's and Bachelor's Degree in Environmental science/studies and/or sustainable development, broadly defined.

Consideration may be given to candidates with a doctoral or professional degree in Environmental science/studies and/or sustainable development, broadly defined; writing/editing, public speaking, leadership, organization, teaching, broad knowledge of environmental issues.
