Retail Marketing Intern - Central Tech Store



Job Type:

Part-time, Temporary (semester position with option for renewal). Flexible. Up to 20 hours a week.

Position Overview:

UCO's Central Tech Store is seeking a motivated Marketing Intern to join our team. Under the supervision of the Manager of the Central Tech Store, the intern will gain real-world experience in the retail marketing field by working to develop and execute marketing initiatives, including social media campaigns, email marketing, and promotional events. The intern will have strong visibility, displaying excellence, integrity, reliability, and innovation as they solve problems, execute tasks with excellence, and support CTS initiatives.

This position can work up to 20 hours a week with a final working day on or around the end of each semester employed. This position will not work when the University is closed for holidays.

Department Specific Job Functions:

In this role, you can expect to learn how to work within a retail team to move initiatives forward for the betterment of faculty, staff, and students. Additional opportunities may include providing insights and recommendations utilizing current and future resources to contribute to quality improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing initiatives, including social media campaigns, email marketing, and promotional events.
  • Conduct research on industry trends and competitors to stay up to date on the latest marketing strategies.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new and creative ideas to increase brand awareness and sales.
  • Support the creation of marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and presentations.
  • Help monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics and create reports to present to management.
Qualifications / Experience Required:
  • Must be a current UCO student (junior or senior) or recent graduate.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field with a GPA of 2.7 or higher
Qualifications / Experience Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficient in relevant social media platforms and trends
  • Knowledge of current technology products
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively express ideas, instructions, and concepts. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal relationship and customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with staff/faculty, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, disseminate, and present significant amounts of information with an attention to detail and accuracy. Continually updates skills and knowledge relative to the position and the technology industry.
