Assistant or Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy

The Chatham University entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (ELOTD) program invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track faculty position in Occupational Therapy at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

The position is designated to teach in content areas with a primary emphasis on the mental and psychosocial aspects of health and occupational science. The position also includes mentoring capstone projects in their area/s of expertise.

As core faculty, the position also has the responsibility of advising students, providing service to the department and the university, and engaging in scholarship as outlined in the Chatham University Faculty Manual. This position requires the applicant to be prepared to begin work for the start of the Fall 2023 term or sooner.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Teach and participate in curriculum development and assessment focusing on mental and psychosocial aspects of health and occupational science, generalist practice, and related professional issues.
  • Mentor students in their capstone projects.
  • Engage in service at the departmental, school, and University levels, including advising of students, and participate in committee and community service aligned with the University's mission and strategic initiatives.
  • Engage in scholarship and professional development expected of rank.
  • Maintain a commitment to University values in their work with an emphasis on sustainability, leadership, equity, diversity, and inclusive excellence.
  • Maintain requirements for accreditation, including licensure and ongoing professional development in their area of clinical expertise and teaching excellence.
Qualifications:
  • An active license (or license eligibility) as an occupational therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Current NBCOT certification
  • Earned post-professional doctorate (i.e., PhD, EdD, DSc, OTD, DrOT, CScD, DHSc).
    • A research-based doctorate is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice as an OT
    • Clinical experience addressing mental and psychosocial aspects of health and wellness in medical or community-based settings
    • Experience with adult and older adults populations is required
    • Experience teaching in an academic, professional, or clinical setting is preferred
  • Evidence of scholarship and scholarly dissemination
  • Evidence of volunteer service in local, regional, or national capacity.
