Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology

UNC Greensboro invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology to begin August 2023 with the possibility of a contract extension after the first year. The Biology Department at UNCG designs and delivers experiential, inquiry-based learning activities and courses in undergraduate research (CUREs) to serve a highly diverse student population majoring in Biology and related disciplines. CUREs have been scaffolded throughout our curriculum from introductory to advanced courses. The successful candidate will teach a required Evolution or Genetics course for undergraduate biology majors and additional courses in their area of expertise. We seek an individual with a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field and the ability to also teach General Biology and other courses in disciplinary specializations which may include Developmental Biology, Human Biology, Anatomy, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Genetics. Opportunities will be available to mentor student research projects, supervise internships, and participate in courses in undergraduate research, and disciplinary research. The VAP will be assigned mentor(s) and may participate in departmental committees, research projects focused on student success, and outreach as part of professional development. The teaching load will be three courses per semester.
