Instructor/Assistant Professor of Mass Communications (Public Relations)

Responsibilities

The Instructor/Assistant. Professor of Mass Communications with expertise in Public Relations will report to the Chair of the Mass Communications Department. He/she will teach skills courses in the basics of public relations, PR writing, PR management and campaigns, social media applications, and data analytics. Additional teaching responsibilities may include other courses within the candidates areas of expertise such as digital media, public relations strategy, and campaigns. Candidate will serve as advisor for the PRSSA chapter and lead the public relations concentration. One is expected to participate fully in departmental recruitment activities, promoting the department within the state and nationally, committee service, grantsmanship and research obligations consistent with all faculty appointments.

Qualifications

A masters degree in communications related to Public Relations or a related field is required. A completed doctorate is required for a tenure track appointment and the rank of Assistant Professor. ABD will be considered. Candidates must possess APR certification. The successful candidate will be expected to continue a research agenda and participate in service activities. Experience working with diverse student populations and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
