Responsibilities:
Delta State University, a regional comprehensive university serving the Mississippi Delta and beyond, is searching for the next dean of our College of Business and Aviation. The college, home to ACBSP accredited business programs and AABI accredited aviation programs, seeks an entrepreneurial leader who is committed to the success of our highly diverse student community. The next dean will view their position as one of bridging the needs of the Delta business and aviation communities by serving the Delta through programs offered within the college.

The College of Business and Aviation currently enrolls 536 students within undergraduate and graduate programs. The college enrolls 412 students in undergraduate programs leading to degrees in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Finance, General Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Management, Marketing, Aviation Management and Flight Operations. The college also enrolls 124 graduate programs including an Integrated Master of Business Administration, Professional Accountancy, and Commercial Aviation. The college also manages a fleet of 20 aircraft as part of the aviation program, has a fully equipped trading lab in support of the finance program, and provides both in-person and on-line instruction.

The dean, who reports to the provost and vice president for academic affairs, serves 43 faculty in the college and is a valued and respected member of Academic Council, the governing body for Academic Affairs within the university shared governance structure. With a total student enrollment of 2,400 students, the dean will have the opportunity to interact with, and mentor, students within the college. Additionally, the College of Business and Aviation serves as home for the Center for Community and Economic Development, hosting programs such as the Delta Educational Opportunity Center, the MS Delta GEAR Up Partnership program, and the Minority Women's Business Development Center, and several other university and community collaboration projects. The college also includes the Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Research.

Qualifications:
  • A track record of successful team building with measurable results in increasing faculty/student engagement, student recruitment/retention, and the ability to attract and retain talented faculty.



  • A terminal degree in a discipline served by the college.

  • A demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with local, state, and national partners in one or more areas supported by the college.

  • Prior experience within an ACBSP (or AACSB) accredited program.

  • Service as chair to a department within business or aviation and/or experience as a dean totaling 5 or more years.


Salary:
12 monthCommensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.
