The Monitoring and Assessment Program (MAP), was created to develop
and expand the university's testing capacity for the coronavirus
that causes SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). The University of Oregon (UO) is
one of only two Pacific Northwest members of the Association of
American Universities and holds the distinction of a “very high
research activity” ranking in the Carnegie Classification of
Institutions of Higher Education. Housed within the Office of the
Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI), the COVID-19
MAP program leverages the research strengths of the UO, including
expertise in genomics, data science, prevention science, and
coordinates staffing to implement the development and execution of
MAP's SARS-CoV-2 sample collection and community testing efforts.
COVID-19 MAP offers testing at multiple locations on campus to the
UO and broader communities.
Additionally, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), in partnership
with regional based medical laboratories, are providing an optional
COVID-19 screening testing program for students at public and
private K-12 schools throughout Oregon. This program is free for
schools and parents/guardians and an important tool to combating
the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. The UO is one of OHA's
partner laboratories in this program and is providing testing to
schools located in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine and
Lane Counties. The program is funded through a grant to OHA from
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The Field Coordinator provides key coordination and support for
COVID-19 MAP testing and data collection activities on the UO
campus, in local communities in Oregon, and as part of the K-12
testing program. This position will be responsible for coordination
with the COVID-19 MAP lab and other labs for testing and
diagnostics, and requires compliance with the human subject IRB
process and HIPAA. Field Coordinators train and supervise a team of
field sample collectors, oversee the tracking and completion of
testing site collections, and ensure collection of any accompanying
data. Additionally, for the K-12 project, Field Coordinators will
play an important role in coordinating kit preparation and sample
check-in and processing. Strong leadership, attention to detail,
and troubleshooting skills are needed in this position.
Field Coordinators also perform other necessary infrastructure
support functions, potentially including but not limited to
collaborating to manage inventory, organizing supply shipments,
coordinating with couriers, and purchasing to ensure supplies are
available and kits provided to schools on schedule.
The position reports to the Lead Field Coordinator and K-12 Project
Coordinator and under their direction will assist in both campus
and K-12 testing operations. This position will work in tandem with
multiple other Field Coordinators to collaborate and problem solve.
Positions are funding contingent one-year appointments.
Flexibility is required in regard to work schedule and time; the
applicant must be able to assist with technical and scheduling
challenges as they arise.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR experience relevant to
the duties of this position (customer service, community
organizing, any medical experience, data collection,

- Two years of related experience including supervision; OR an
equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to confidentially requirements
and other regulations. HIPAA training and biosafety training will

- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive
