Position Summary:
The Department of Health and Physical Education at Monmouth University is seeking a dynamic and seasoned colleague to join a growing team as a full time, tenure track Assistant Professor in one or more of the following areas: Health Science, Exercise Science, Public Health, Fitness/Wellness, Kinesiology, etc.

The position is a 10-month contract, with a 9 credit teaching load per semester and the option to teach additional summer courses. Scholarship and service (including academic advising) will also be expected. The start date will be August 2023.

The mission of the Health and Physical Education Department is to empower students to become leaders within the health professions, driving change within the fields of allied health, fitness and wellness, public health, and health and physical education teacher education, in order to advance the holistic health and well-being of the community.

Health Studies offers two clusters, Health Science and Exercise Science, that prepare students for healthcare graduate programs specifically, PT, PA, Med School, OT, AT, Accelerated Nursing, and SLP by combining a rigorous foundation of sciences with credit space flexibility to complete graduate program prerequisites in 4 years. The Health Studies major feeds MU graduate programing through direct entry Masters programs: 3+3 with OTD and PA; and 3+2 Direct Entry to SLP.

Health Promotion offers two clusters, Public Health and Fitness and Wellness, that train students to be change agents that improve quality of life in the community. Public Health students learn how to drive policy change in response to community needs and assist clients in accessing programs that enhance health and wellness. Fitness and Wellness majors advance community health through the creation and implementation of wellness programs that increase physical activity habits and shape healthy lifestyle choices.

PhD or doctoral degree in the area of Health Studies, i.e. Health Science, Exercise Science, Public Health, Fitness/Wellness, Kinesiology.
Demonstrated record of scholarly engagement.Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching.Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment and with a diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications:
Cross-disciplinary collaboration.Advisory experience.Student engagement in research and scholarship.
