Carroll University seeks an Adjunct Instructor of Occupational Therapy for the Summer of 2023 - Handwriting Without Tears, 1 week summer camp



Course: OTH621: Advanced Level 1 Fieldwork



Time/Days: June 12- 16 8:00am-12:30pm Center for Graduate Studies

Brief Couse Description: Designed to support our clinical experience curriculum the Carroll University MOT Program provides an interactive handwriting camp to children within the Waukesha community. Housed in our Center for Graduate Studies; Instructor is responsible to coordinate engaging, sensory-based activities that achieve the curricular goals of this camp as well as instruct the principles of fine motor manipulation, pinch, grip and alpha/numeric production within their assigned classroom. This one week handwriting camp utilizes Handwriting Without Tears program/materials.

Qualifications: WI Licensed OTR with minimum of 2 years experience in school-based or out-patient pediatrics as well as familiarity with the HWT curriculum. Official transcripts due upon hire.

The Program: The Handwriting Without Tears summer camp is for children ages 4-8years old. Students work within an assigned classroom grouping to achieve the clinical goals of evaluation, documentation, and intervention under skilled supervision with the provision of oral and written feedback. The classroom instructor will be responsible to design the daily schedule, activities, and interventions in advance of the camp week. The classroom instructor will be responsible for the individual evaluation of each MOT student in their group at the end of the week.

The College: The College of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs through seven departments; Public Health, Athletic Training, Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, and Department of Movement Sciences. The mission of the College of Health Science is to educate students to be innovative professionals who collaborate to serve the health needs of their communities.
