ESB Director of Career Services

Primary Purpose:
The ESB Director of Career Services is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Eberhardt School's Career Management Center brand as a high quality, collaborative support center among a broad base of stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, University peers, employers, and industry leaders). The develop and direct required curriculum and co-curricular programs to prepare business students to compete for and secure internships and careers in targeted industries. They foster long-lasting relationships with employers across all industries and geographies. The lead the center in achieving the school's overall experiential learning and employment outcome goals for all business degree programs (undergraduate and graduate level).

Essential Functions:
  1. Serves as a key ambassador of the school to build its brand in the external job market by actively expanding and nurturing critically important relations with industry, government, and non-profit employers. Leverages alumni network to expand employer development opportunities. Manages required MBA internship program for all full-time MBAs, including assistance for international students with CPT process. Serves as liaison to International Programs & Services.
  2. Consults with employers on (defining when needed) promoting internship and career opportunities to attract interest from business students and recent graduates.
  3. Represents the School to external stakeholders at a local, regional, state, and national level to raise the visibility and reputation of the school as a high caliber source of talent, including interactions with national and professional associations and the media.
  4. Creates revenue generating opportunities (career fairs, employer sponsor programs, etc.) to support a sustainable funding model.
  5. Develops and manages events such as but not limited to recruiting fairs, employer campus visits, Industry/Career panels, and networking events to facilitate connections and opportunities for students to access internships and entry-level career opportunities.
  6. Advises business students and alumni in all degree programs, providing individualized coaching related to career planning, job search strategy and execution.
  7. Identifies and assesses career development tools and resources and makes investment recommendations in order to provide students and alumni with access to best available resources. Analyzes utilization annually to ensure investment is maximized.
  8. Designs traditional and online curriculum for and teaches required undergraduate career development courses fall / spring / summer terms to provide required training to all students on appropriate career planning and job search execution strategies.
  9. Collaborates with faculty to integrate professional skills training and development into school’s core curriculum where appropriate. Develops and delivers programs to address skills in demand by employers.
  10. Offers strategic guidance to peers, faculty, and student organization advisers/leaders on engaging alumni for professional development activities and events with students. Refers industry/professional contacts for student organization programming.
  11. Represents School’s interests among University-wide career and employer peers, including serving on University Career Services Advisory Board and identifying joint programming opportunities to maximize financial investment and student participation.
  12. Pursues and maintains leadership roles within regional, national and international career associations to influence thought leadership and industry standards related to employment data reporting and professional ethics.
  13. Maintains current understanding of AACSB expectations to meet and exceed accreditation standards as relates to career management services and outcomes. Implements and oversees data collection, analysis, and reporting processes to respond to all external requests for business school career-related data from accrediting bodies and ranking publications.
  14. Provides oversight, direction and supervision of center staff and interns to support the day to day operations of the center.
  15. Performs other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in corporate or college recruiting, university career services or a business school setting.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication (written/verbal), organizational, administrative, presentation and leadership skills.
  • PC/Computer skills at advanced level.
  • Internet, database, and standard Office applications used daily.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is performed in various environments in and out of doors. Constant sitting and frequent phone use, computer keyboarding, walking and standing. Work performed during standard business hours. Frequent need to drive to various locations. Overnight travel 2-3 times per year for conferences, by plane, are required.

Hiring Range: $64,480.00 - $77,410.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
