Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs, 40 hours per week

Pay Range: $16.50 - $20.63 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: The Concierge is responsible for building relationships with prospective and current students by engaging them in the community of JCCC and connecting them with the resources that facilitates student learning to success in navigating the complexities of the enrollment process from admission through graduation.

Serves as primary contact for welcome center. Responsible for ensuring all materials and physical spaces are ready for the day's events. Warmly greets all guests and ensures they feel welcome, promptly answering inquiries and giving accurate information. Arranges for any special accommodations requested by visitors, reviews appointment schedules with prospective students when they check in for visits, ensuring that prospective students and their guests understand and are comfortable with itinerary and can attend all appointments. Cancels appointments with departments if a prospect will not attend.

This person will also assist high-touch recruitment initiatives and visits through personal attention and service to prospective students and families during their visit to campus. The campus visit is the most important conversion and yield strategy, this position ensures the visit experience not only meets, but exceeds expectations for prospective students and guests. Some evening and weekend work required.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field required. Attention to detail, interpersonal communication skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of student information required. Must be able to able to articulate messages clearly and concisely both in public and on the telephone, work occasional irregular hours including evenings and weekends, and work independently and contribute as a member of a team. Prior experience with public speaking as evidenced by coursework, volunteer activities, or job experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with college students preferred. Graduate of JCCC and/or knowledge of the academic programs and support services offered at JCCC. Ability to communicate in a language other than English preferred. Experience working in the admission office at a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • SERVE AS THE PRIMARY POINT OF CONTACT FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENT VISITORS - Support the overall College recruitment efforts by architecting, implementing and evaluating campus visit and event strategies, conducting large and small group presentations, and engaging with prospective students and guests. Schedule appointments with appropriate departments on campus as requested by the prospect to facilitate student connections with resources. Provides presentations in a central public speaking role to small and large groups of prospective students, families and community stakeholders. Assist Recruitment Coordinator as needed. Performance is acceptable when: a. Students are provided with excellent service that helps engage the student with the college. b. Students are appropriately connected with student service resources and academic departments in a timely manner. c. Ensures pre and post-event communications are set up for events. d. Conducts program evaluation and incorporates feedback and results to enhance future programming efforts.
  • FACILITATE THE PLANNING AND SUCCESSFUL EXECUTION OF PROSPECTIVE STUDENT GROUP VISITS - Field requests submitted by area high schools, middle and elementary schools, community organizations, and request made by JCCC staff and faculty. Schedule group visits that highlight the JCCC admissions process, including student services and academic presentations that meet group visit goals. Performance is acceptable when: a. Advisor or group visit contact is provided a curated visit agenda/. b. Group visits includes an admissions presentation and campus tour. c. Prospective student to advisor and tour guide to student ratios are met to ensure safety and meaningful campus visits d. Timely communication with appropriate departments - Ex: dining services for lunch accommodations and police department for bus parking, parking permits, etc.
  • CONNECT STUDENTS WITH RESOURCES IN THE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COMMUNITY- In conjunction with Marketing, Continuing Education, Student Services, and Academic Affairs departments, develop relationships that enhance recruitment efforts and cultivate relationships with prospective and current students by hosting events on campus and around the community. Maintains physical inventory for visit-related supplies (water, coffee, brochures for brochure wall). Performance is acceptable when: a. A network of community resources willing to assist prospective and current students is developed and maintained. b. Prospective and current students are matched with appropriate alumni or other community resources as available.
  • COLLABORATE EFFECTIVELY AND PROFESSIONALLY WITH CO-WORKERS AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS - Handle inquiries from other departments with a congenial attitude, promoting a positive teamwork atmosphere. Demonstrate familiarity with other departments' staff to best direct student inquiries. Performance is acceptable when: a. Working as part of a team to build a collaborative, supportive atmosphere to provide outstanding service. b. Inquiries are handled efficiently and congenially.
