Job Description

HGR Student Peer Mentors needed to assist program director and implement programming for incoming freshman for the Hit the Ground Running program, which runs from July 8 - 30, 2023.

The student mentors will lead a group of approximately 75 incoming students in a 3 week program, broken down into smaller groups.

Most of the mentor work with the HGR students will begin in the late afternoon, through the evening Monday through Saturday plus weekend activities, and be on-call overnight, while living in the resident hall with the HGR students.

The main duties of the HGR mentors are to:
  • Encourage incoming students’ connections with each other
  • Help familiarize incoming students with the S&T campus
  • Encourage team building and inclusivity
  • Keep incoming students on track and participating in academic and social activities
  • Carry-out the program director’s instructions and goals
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have excellent leadership qualities
  • Flexible with last minute changes
