Job Details

Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus is now accepting applications for Director of Media Services. The Director of Media Services is directly responsible for the organization and management of all departmental activities and multimedia-related technical and academic support services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains and supervises production services personnel
  • Manages the department budget and oversees payroll
  • Assists faculty with the design and production of multimedia products; such as, educational videos, learning objects, podcasts, audio files and lecture capture
  • Responsible for the creation, planning and development of visual and multimedia productions in support of classroom instruction and special events
  • Manages the inventory of digital assets in all formats across a multi-system platform for easy access and retrieval
  • Plans, develops, and promotes aural, visual and multimedia materials, hardware and software systems
  • Informs and stimulates faculty, administrators and students in making appropriate and innovative use of educational media
  • Establishes conditions calculated to inform and stimulated faculty, administrators and students in making appropriate and innovative use of educational media
  • Formulates and implements immediate and long range planning for the acquisition of equipment, materials and facility requirement
  • Complies with established college standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree and four (4) years of related work experience or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college in a related field of study including entertainment technology, business, graphic arts, or technology; and eight (8) years of professional level work experience in educational technology, graphic arts, multimedia development or related field
  • All degrees must be obtained from a regionally accredited institution
  • Ability to provide documented computer, multimedia development,  audiovisual, teleconferencing or computer network operations experience
  • Advanced level of technical, communication, written and spoken, and administrative skills
  • Knowledge of college educational philosophy and top management administrative practices and procedures; college curricula and instructional programs
  • Knowledge of the goals, objectives, structure and operations of major college institutions
  • Knowledge and skill in communicating effectively utilizing public relations principals and practices
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of technological systems as they apply to instructional, administrative and workplace needs particularly learning management systems
  • Strategic planning skills to affect change in a multi-cultural environment
  • Skill in employee development and performance management
  • Strong leadership skills that promote dedication, creativity, innovation and growth
  • Ability to develop and interpret financial data/plans and manage resources
  • Ability to think, reason, and make sound judgment on how responsibilities are completed in compliance with college standards and guidelines
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
