Position Summary
The Associate Athletic Director - Compliance is responsible for managing, developing, and implementing all aspects of the department’s compliance program and the day to day operations of the compliance office. This includes reviewing and providing first level approval of transfer requests and NCAA waivers, providing education and interpretation of rules, investigating and reporting NCAA and conference violations, management of the athletic financial aid program, oversight of certifications of student athletes for practice and competition, maintain squad lists, management of external and internal audits, and NIL education and monitoring. In addition, this position will act as the department’s liaison to the registrar, admissions, and financial aid offices. This position will represent Rice University on matters related to compliance with the American Athletic Conference and the NCAA. This position will also sit on the department's Senior Staff and will help guide the department's strategic direction in partnership with the Director of Athletics and the rest of the Senior Staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 years of relevant NCAA compliance management experience, five years of related experience is highly preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Active knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations
- Team oriented
- Attention to detail
- Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations and institution policies
- Conducts risk assessments
- Provides compliance assistance to client groups (faculty, staff and students)
- Prepares reports
- Reviews, updates and maintains information on compliance protocols, processes, data, records and communications
- Develops and facilitates compliance training
- Reviews compliance programs and identifies areas in need of improvement
- Completes special projects as assigned
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Preferences
- Master’s Degree in related field or law degree.
