Application Developer B

Job Description Summary
The Human Pancreas Analysis Program (https://hpap.pmacs.upenn.edu/) and Faryabi Lab (http://faryabiLab.com) are seeking frontend web developers to participate in ongoing research on the multi-omics studies of diabetes and other pancreatic disorders.

Successful candidates are responsible for:

1) collaborating with backend developers to design, implement, and maintain a user-friendly web frontend for data management, integration, and analysis programs. The current site is https://hpap.pmacs.upenn.edu/

2) contributing to development, testing, and maintenance of solutions for dissemination of several genomics and imaging data modalities

3) participating in the technical design and implementation of a large-scale, cloud-base ‘data commons' for diabetes research, including data ingestion, harmonization, and storage, as well as a user-facing portal for data querying and analysis with various interactive and batch-based tools.

Successful candidates will also have the option to participate in subsequent data analysis, integration, and interpretation. The projects are mainly funded by the Human Pancreas Analysis Program, which are multi-million-dollar grants funded by the National Institutes of Health and aim to advance our understanding of root causes of diabetes.

A qualified candidate for Developer B will be strongly motivated individual with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's in computer science, engineering, or related fields with a minimum 1 year of experience in programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  
• Demonstrated experience with modern JavaScript web framework (React/Redux), and service-oriented architecture.
  
• Or, demonstrated experience with at least one modern visualization package (e.g. D3.js, Three.js).
  
• Familiarity with build systems, version control systems and other standard development tools.
  
• Experience with genomic data, software, packages and databases is a plus.
  
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a rapidly evolving team.
  
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  
  In addition to the above, the C level Developer is required to following qualifications:
  
  
• Proven 2 to 3 years of experience in modern JavaScript web framework.
  
• Experience in modern web-based visualization (e.g. D3.js, Three.js).
  
• Experience with Cloud API programming is a plus

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
