Animal herds and flocks are available at the Columbus, Wooster, and state-wide campuses to support the hands-on educational program of the department, and a meat harvesting/processing facility and arena space for visual appraisal of animals is located in the Columbus campus Animal Sciences building. This position is a 100% teaching position, including an expectation of 60% livestock evaluation and selection instruction and practice (including on-the-road collegiate practice and contests, and support of youth programming) and 40% departmental teaching and academic advising. Evening and weekend travel is required.

Expectations: The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the educational mission of the department through recruitment, teaching of undergraduate courses, and outreach education and will serve as coach of the Ohio State Livestock Judging teams. The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate with faculty and staff providing leadership for 4-H, FFA, and other youth programs in recruiting prospective students to the Ohio State College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to provide oversight for strategic utilization and growth of endowed and non-endowed funds that provide the funding to support livestock judging team activities. Collaboration with the Ohio State ATI Junior Livestock Judging Team and engagement with industry stakeholders is also expected. Our college has a rich history of livestock judging alumni who were members of the Ohio State competitive judging teams, as well as other stakeholders, who value livestock evaluation experiences as an important aspect of the educational endeavors of the department and college.
