Metro State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire a Program Architect.  This is a full-time probationary position within the Center for Educational Innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the university’s instructional design and curriculum development services to meet university goals for equity and inclusion, student success, and high quality of all academic programs.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to align with the university’s mission, vision, and goals as well as with the system's strategic plan. 
  • Provide supervision for production instructional designers and leadership for faculty mentors to promote a creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial team-based environment.
  • Contribute to the Center for Education Innovation (CEI) and perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Minimum Qualifications:

The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:

  • Master’s Degree in instructional design or strongly related educational discipline
  • Three years of advanced professional experience as an instructional designer in online teaching in a post-secondary or university-level environment
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of instructional design and development (e.g. portfolio, online examples) including: needs analysis, applied adult learning principles, systematic instructional design processes, graphic design and visual support, evaluation, and impact assessment
  • Familiarity with the pedagogy/andragogy of online teaching
  • Ability to manage projects in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D or Ed.D in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, or strongly related educational discipline (e.g. educational psychology, cognitive science)
  • Knowledge of the D2L Brightspace Learning Management System
  • Three or more years working with an eLearning authoring system such as Adobe Captivate and/or Articulate Storyline Strong Microsoft Office skills and familiarity with web development software such as Dreamweaver and third-party software tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with faculty and other subject matter experts and serve as an authoritative expert in instructional design for online learning

Physical Requirements of the Job: Requires occasionally transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or transporting light objects frequently.  The position may require movement throughout building(s) to a significant degree.

Salary:  This is a Minnesota State University Association of Administrative and Service Faculty (MSUAASF) Range D position with a salary range of $51,978 (minimum) to $95,976 (maximum).  Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State) and the MSUAASF organization.
