Clemson University: College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences
Tenured / Tenure-Track Faculty - Electrical and Computer Engineering

Location: Clemson, SC

Description

The Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University is seeking applicants for one computer engineering tenure-track or tenured faculty position.

This position considers candidates with outstanding credentials at all ranks and will commence in July 2023.

The Department has a particular interest in applicants in areas of specialization that will contribute to the university's strategic, cross-disciplinary effort in high-impact research in systems and applications driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Transformative AI/ML systems and applications call for novel solutions that span perception of the physical world, collecting and processing of diverse genres of data, making decisions, controlling physical devices and systems, and interacting with human and society. Tackling the broad scope of challenges requires extensive multi-disciplinary collaboration.

The Holcombe Department of ECE is one of the largest and most active departments in Clemson University with 36 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and 7 teaching faculty members, approximately 600 undergraduates and 190 graduate students. Annual research expenditures exceed $13 million in 2022. Members of the faculty include six IEEE Fellows, four endowed chairs, and eight named professors. The Department has highly successful research programs in high-performance computing and networking; privacy, communications security, and secure control systems; embedded computing and mobile health devices; soft robotics and networked autonomy; photonic and electronic devices, sensors, and systems; and power engineering.

Clemson University has the highest Carnegie research designation (R1), and recently completed its Clemson Forward 10-year strategic plan with focus on advancing our doctoral programs and strengthening our research and scholarly impact while still preserving the outstanding signature undergraduate experience that is at the heart of Clemson. Clemson Forward has at its core the mission being a model for the 21st Century land grant university. Moreover, the University, the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences, and the Department are committed to building a community of inclusive excellence, where faculty scholars are dedicated to working and teaching in a multi-cultural environment (http://www.clemson.edu/inclusion/).

In addition, Clemson University recognizes that many prospective candidates for faculty positions at Clemson have dual career needs. The Dual Career Program in the Office of the Provost provides support when considering employment opportunities with the university and in the surrounding community.

South Carolina's highest-ranked national university is located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounded by Lake Hartwell and the Clemson Experimental Forest. A top-25 public university with a reputation for excellence, Clemson University provides a hands-on education - in the lab, in the classroom and in the field. Academic programs lay the groundwork for innovative research, and real-world experiences carry forward to rewarding careers. This strikingly beautiful campus enjoys a temperate and pleasant climate.

We welcome applications and nominations of outstanding scholar-educators to come join the Clemson Family.
