Job Summary:

The Asian American Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor whose scholarship and teaching focus on Hmong/HMoob Americans. The position will be 50% in the Asian American Studies Program and 50% in a tenure home department appropriate to area of specialization. Appointment begins August 2023.

The candidate's research may be based in any field in the humanities, arts, and social sciences, including, but not limited to, anthropology, communication, English, geography, gender and women's studies, history, and social work. The candidate's scholarship may engage any methodology and should engage the field of Asian American studies, broadly defined.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include pursuing an active research agenda, teaching four courses per year (including at least two courses on Hmong/HMoob American topics), and participating in faculty governance activities and professional service, as well as supporting the HMoob American Studies emphasis in the Asian American Studies certificate program.

Qualifications:

The applicant should have a deep knowledge of Hmong/HMoob American Studies and a strong publication record or a productive research program with strong publishing potential, commensurate with rank.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
