Job Summary:

Faculty maintain an impactful research program appropriate for a major research university and contribute to the research, teaching and service missions of the Department of Mathematics in the College of Letters & Science. Faculty are encouraged to develop and maintain extramural funding for research. Teaching responsibility will be two courses in Mathematics per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students required. Successful candidate will be expected to participate in professional, public and university service as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

Faculty members are expected to contribute to the research, teaching, and service missions of the department. Appointment with tenure requires evidence of excellence in scholarly research, teaching, and service. Candidates for a tenure - track position should exhibit evidence of outstanding research potential, normally including significant contributions beyond the doctoral dissertation.

The teaching responsibility is two courses per academic year, typically one course per semester. Courses taught will include both undergraduate and graduate level courses. A strong commitment to excellence in instruction is expected.

Qualifications:

Scholarly research record and teaching experience preferred. Appointment at the tenured level requires significant research accomplishments and a record of proven excellence in teaching and service.

Appointment at the tenured level requires a favorable recommendation by the university's Physical Sciences Divisional Committee.
