General Summary: Works with the associate director for global learning, the faculty coordinator of global learning, and faculty course leaders to design, plan and implement global learning cultural immersion programs within the guidelines of federal, state, and local laws, and college and office/division policies and procedures. Reports to the associate director of the center for global learning and works with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, vendors, travel planning providers, and administrators from other institutions.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Designs, plans and implements global learning cultural immersion programs and coordinates these experiences (including Journeys and Global Study Tour trips).
  2. Researches potential destinations, costs, study abroad providers, and travel agencies for Summit travel opportunities.
  3. Organizes logistics (i.e., transportation, accommodations, excursions, educational experiences, etc.) associated with all faculty-led travel.
  4. Manages the journeys and global study tour travel budgets and maintains efficient, regular reporting processes
  5. Coordinates the implementation of these global study away experiences and collaborates with faculty on associated courses.
  6. Implements, manages and updates application and data management systems and furthers the use of the system across departments to manage off-campus excursions and travel.
  7. Collaborates with faculty coordinator of global learning to plan and implement pre-departure and re-entry experiences for global study away opportunities.
  8. Promotes global study away opportunities, policies and procedures via information sessions, social media, web postings to all campus constituencies.
  9. Collaborates with the international student advisor, the Office of Academic Advising, and the registrar to design and implement procedures for: student selection of and placement in Summit study away courses; visa and passport acquisition; and complying with applicable college and government requirements.
  10. Collaborates with appropriate offices to provide support, including emergency services, while Summit travel is in progress.
  11. Implements assessment of global study away.
  12. Leads or accompanies global study away courses if needed.
  13. Prepares reports about global study away programs.
  14. Collaborates with colleagues in the Center for Global Learning to share and streamline processes and resources across all global activity (incl. Faculty-led Programs, Independent Study Abroad, International Student Advising).


REQUIREMENTS

Education : Bachelor's degree required. Post-baccalaureate training, coursework or certification preferred.

Experience : Minimum of two years employment experience in higher education. Liberal arts environment and study abroad preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Demonstrated interest in the field of international education
  • Significant study, work or travel abroad experience
  • Experience with student-related program planning
  • Strong commitment to creating an inclusive working and learning environment at a diverse institution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher; experience with database and application management and reporting (Smartsheet, Terra Dotta); familiarity with learning management systems (Canvas), mastery of digital office tools, including Gmail, Google docs and social media marketing
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with special expertise in cross-cultural communication
  • Foreign language fluency preferred
  • Budgeting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. On campus work is performed in an office or classroom. There is some domestic and/or international travel involved.
