The Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center (CMCVAMC) and the Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or DO degree and an unrestricted medical license.

Candidates must be ABIM eligible/certified in Rheumatology and have demonstrated excellent clinical abilities in teaching of residents and/or fellows. The academic clinician track requires 100 credits per year of active and high-quality teaching. Experience in clinical administration is preferred but not required.

The Section Chief will be responsible for the oversight of the Rheumatology outpatient and inpatient clinical services at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center (CMCVAMC), working in a collaborative enviroment to ensure adequate resources are available for the Rheumatologic care of our Veteran patients. This includes oversight and support of the current six part-time physicians and physician-investigators, and one full-time nurse practitioner, and regular collaboration with other Medical and Surgical departments when interdisciplinary efforts are needed.

The successful candidate will be part of two of the nation's most prestigious institutions offering an opportunity for multidisciplinary patient care, teaching responsibilities, and clinical research opportunities in an academic setting. The CMCVAMC is a large tertiary care medical center co-located and affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. It and the University of Pennsylvania are intimately joined to fulfill the VA's mission of providing the highest quality of care to our Nation's Veterans, to the education of rising generation of health professionals and to the advancement of medical knowledge. The Section Chief will support an already accomplished group of Rheumatologists that include successful clinicians, educators and investigators, providing a rich base for further growth and success within the Section.

The Division of Rheumatology includes extensive clinical expertise in the full range of rheumatic diseases, including linked clinical and research programs in myositis, systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, scleroderma Sjögren's syndrome, and vasculitis. The Division partners with the Department of Orthopaedics within a multidisciplinary Musculoskeletal Center.
