Position Information

This is a Temporary and/or hourly intermittent appointment. No probationary period. No permanent status is granted.
Conditions of Employment
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The salary range for this classification is $13.00 - $19.50 hourly.
Position Summary
Under general supervision, a Note taker serves disabled persons by making written records of oral lectures, presentations, and written material on a chalkboard, or events, exhibits, and physical conditions that cannot be seen or recorded by those served. The more difficult assignments within the class may require familiarity with specialized vocabulary and specific subject matter.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of college-level lecture note taking, study and testing methods and practices. Ability to follow instructions; ability to listen, read and outline for meaning, main points, concepts, terms, and principles; follow a schedule; be punctual; maintain cooperative working relationships; understand the needs of disabled persons; prepare a complete written account of oral presentations, lecture or printed material; ability to spell, outline and summarize; describe events, objects and activities in writing; ability to follow a code of ethics.
Experience:
Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to write, spell, and express ideas and concepts using a college-level English vocabulary. Training in journalism or English composition or college-level experience in note taking in the subject to which assigned is desirable.
