UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT URBANA CHAMPAIGN

DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY CLINICAL MEDICINE

Open Rank Tenure or Clinical Track in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging

Variable appointment (51-100%)

Are you interested in a collaborative in-hospital work experience which also allows you to maximize your earning potential with teleradiology/consulting opportunities?

The University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is seeking an additional clinical radiologist to join our team as a faculty member at the rank of lecturer or instructor. This position is a flexible, benefits eligible appointment, ranging from 51-100%. This flexibility allows ample free time for teleradiology/consulting opportunities. In this position, primary duties include case interpretation/consultation on the clinic floor and teaching of the department’s clinical year students and house officers. Didactic teaching and research are not required but can be pursued, if interested. After hours emergency call is not required.

The VTH boasts top of the line equipment, including a Siemens Somatom 128 slice CT, 3T Siemens Magnetom Skyra MRI, and a Canon Aplio 700 ultrasound machine. Our reading room is equipped with three diagnostic workstations, each with two diagnostic monitors and two non-diagnostic monitors. Our current team includes a board-certified radiologist, diagnostic imaging intern, five imaging technicians, and two imaging coordinators. Ultrasound exams are performed by our excellent imaging technicians and can be interpreted in-house or sent out for interpretation.

Our moderate caseload is supported by a teleradiology service which assists with case overflow. This allows for a pressure-free case reading and consulting environment. This position will not include large animal image interpretation unless the candidate has a specific interest. The diagnostic imaging department supports robust neurology, internal medicine, soft tissue/orthopedic surgery, radiation/medical oncology, and ECC services. We also consult on cases for our dermatology, exotics medicine, and dentistry services.

We are offering a competitive salary and this position start date will be as soon as possible.

Requirements: The successful candidate must have a DVM degree or equivalent and have completed or currently completing a residency program in Diagnostic Imaging. Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or credentials acceptable by ACVR for board eligibility, is required. We are looking for a candidate who is a strong team player, interested in developing productive research, service, and/or teaching programs that can integrate with activities of other groups across the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus.

Application procedures: Applicants may be interviewed prior to the closing date; however, no hiring decision will be made until after that date.  Applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled. Please create your candidate profile through jobs.illinois.edu. Candidates are required to upload all application materials, including your letter of interest, resume, transcripts, and names and email contact information for at least three references by June 30, 2023. All requested information must be submitted for your application to be considered. Additional information about the position may be obtained by contacting:
