Position Summary

The Doerr Institute for New Leaders invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellow position to begin July 2023. The research fellow will be part of a creative team that (1) designs, plans, and executes the evaluation of leader development programming, and (2) conducts scholarly research on leadership and leader development. The research fellow will be expected to spend the majority of his/her time working directly on measurement-related projects, with additional time spent assisting with related Institute objectives (e.g., assisting with our measurement certification course).

Successful candidates will have advanced skills and knowledge related to designing outcome measures and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data from empirical research; expertise in leadership studies is strongly desired. This position may involve the opportunity to supervise and mentor students, as well as the possibility of collaboration with other scholars at the university. Applicants must have a record of publication in academic, social science journals to be considered for this position. The full-time position is for 12 months with strong possibility of renewal for one additional year.

Salary: $70,000. In addition to an annual salary of $70,000, the postdoc will be provided with a computer and funds to spend on research and conference travel.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in psychology or related fields ( may be expected at time of application but must be completed by Aug. 31, 2023)
  • No experience required
  • Excellent technical and data analysis skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as oral presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, to participate actively, to collaborate effectively with others
  • Ability to work independently and professionally with minimal supervision and direction
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Advanced skill and knowledge in designing outcome measures and analyzing results
Essential Functions
  • Designs, plans, executes, and evaluates leader development programming
  • Performs independent and collaborative research related to Institute objectives
  • Analyzes and manages complex data (particularly quantitative data)
  • Communicates research findings through verbal presentations and publications/reports
  • Supports project management and participates in Institute events as a representative
  • Designs and implements research studies; adapts and develops new procedures, methods, or instruments for research
  • Supports the Institute’s measurement certification course
  • Mentors, oversees, and/or trains junior research team members as needed
  • Participates in relevant conference travel/presentations
  • Provides academic services (ie. teaching classes) to the department as required
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Preferences
  • Industrial/organization psychology, social psychology, personality psychology, behavioral economics, or related fields
  • Strong analytical and empirical skills
  • Experience conducting applied research on leadership and/or leader development
