Job Summary/Basic Function

The responsibility of this temporary position is to provide assistance to students enrolled in the Math courses, with a primary focus on corequisite Math courses. This position will be providing support in and out of the classroom, as needed by students and the instructor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competence (at least an A-) in MATH 107 (Liberal Arts Math), MATH 110 (College Algebra), or MATH 140 (Pre-Calculus) or a comparable course.
  • Completed the equivalent of two years of college course work.
  • Strong foundation in math skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience with teaching or tutoring.
  • Candidate must be committed to student retention and success and display exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference to candidates with experience in individual and group mentoring and tutoring at the college level.
  • Two years’ experience working at the college level.

Recognize and respond to students according to their varying learning needs and use innovative strategies to assist them in grasping and applying subject matter.

Maintain and provide data on students assisted, time spent, and type of assistance provided to supervisor and College Readiness Coordinator.

Serve as resource for math students who are at risk and ensure that they are provided the necessary assistance
