Visiting Assistant Professor of Africana Studies

The Department of Africana Studies at the University at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for two Visiting Assistant Professors. These positions are for a period of three years. While the Africana Studies Department hopes to renew the positions, renewals ultimately depend on funding and performance. We seek colleagues able to teach courses on Structural Racism, Social Justice, African American Experiences in Urban America, Black Social Movements, as well as Black Cultures and Religions of the Americas. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Africana Studies or equivalent field in hand or expected by August 1, 2024. A terminal degree is required by the time of appointment. Responsibilities will include the teaching of Introduction of Africana Studies, courses existing in the curriculum, and courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. The expected course load for this position is three courses per semester. The position's start date is September 1, 2024.
